it's 11:42, and for some damn reason, I just wanna go out and f&*@ someone up. Yeah, I'm a little drunk, so you can consider this a rant. I just know I'm effing angry... (perhpas irrationally so...so maybe Korea is catching up with me)
The other day I took my just 3 year old son into the bathroom at Rich Mart to pee. Some guy wearing a uniform jacket from one of those electrolite enriching drink companies was in there with his mate smoking.
When we came in, he took a big draw on his cigarette, bent down to my sons' level, and blew his smoke into my sons face from maybe 25 centimeteres away. My son recoiled hard. I had a pen in my pocket, and the only thing (I think) that stopped me from stabbing him in the neck or eye was that it got caught in my pocket as I dragged it out, and in the time it took me to re-try my pull I had time to think about it. His mate grabbed him and dragged him out. I think they both knew at the same moment that that was a stupid thing to do (aside from big angry pappa).
I'm bent. Really really damn bent that some jackass would do that. I see people do more stupid things every day, but it was my son.
I find my self becoming more and more intolerant of stupidity especially around my son.
I dont know. I guess I'm just angry and venting. I'll stop now. |

| What you're really mad at is the fact that you didn't do anything at the time. That's ok. Just learn from this, and next time, teach the other children (as Crusherofheads would say). Let this moment inspire you, and don't ever hesitate. There are far worse things in life than getting your ass kicked. |

| A punch to his face would've been appropriate, but not a pen in the throat. Why didn't you at least report him? |

Ur just angry cos u didn't get the guy that did it. Well done for holding back, but no-one would have blamed u for giving the guy something to remember his actions. Still, wanting to just "f&*@ someone up" is just plain wrong. |

"Why didn't you at least report him?" - Report him for what?
"What you're really mad at is the fact that you didn't do anything at the time. That's ok. Just learn from this, and next time, teach the other children (as Crusherofheads would say). The thought that went through my head in the moment that I had to think was that it wasn't worth going to jail, or gettting kicked out of country for that jackass.
Still badly bent though...I think it's just Korea cathcing up on me.
EDIT catching. |

Agreed. Even if things turn out bad in a physical confrontation, memories of what could have been last longer than a few bruises.
This is not to say you should get yourself busted by the cops, but it would have been better if you had shoved him against a wall or something. Grabbing him by the throat would be another option.
Anyway, just let it go this time. But if I were you, the next time some jackass pulls something like that I would recommend you do something to make youself feel better afterwards. Especially when it happens away from public view, like in a restroom.
(edit: spilled beer on my keyboard last week and it's fritzing out on me)

Sounds like you ran into a real winner!
It's sad, but you really do have to be ready for anything at all times here.
You were just a father taking care of his kid...minding your business...and you get treated this way?
That guy's actions went beyond rude to inhuman. |

I think you handled yourself extreemly well. I congratulate you for that. If I were you, I would go to his place of employment and report it. I think the ass deserves to be reprimanded for doing such a sick and stupid thing. Or you could find him in the restroom again, hold him down on the floor and get your son to pee on him. |

| You guys are @nal. You guys seem to be comparing this to some kind of Chinese water torture. Sure what the guy did was @ssholic, but that's all. The next time you see the guy, light up a cigarette and blow some smoke in his face, or maybe 'accidently' spill your energy drink onto his shirt. |

Poet13, that was not cool.
I don't like comparing my old country to this but I've never seen anyone do that to child, back home. Infact, I've never seen or heard of this kind of behaviour,in any other country.
You're right to be be pissed-off. Korea takes the gold for dumb antics.
Ha, tonight I got told I could use chopsticks well, even though the person knew I had been in Korea for eight years. Not the same I know, but ignorance is rife, so take a breath, and be ready for he next insult.
Take it easy

You were right not to get violent. Not because it would be wrong in such a situation, but because you are not Korean and violence would have backfired on you.
The posters who mention complaining to his employer are probably correct. Cause him some trouble. Maybe get him fired (admittedly, I think it's unlikely this would be the outcome). Certainly write to the head office of the company who employs him, even if it doesn't get him fired, a foreigner reporting his shameful behaviour is bound to cause him at least SOME problems.
OK, that wouldn't feel as good as smashing his face off a urinal and leaving him in a pool of blood, vomit, and piss, but at least it's something! |

| The sight of watching his father attack another man would have a much more harmful effect on your son than some cigarette smoke will, in the long run. You did the right, fatherly thing. You put the interest of your son above your desire for revenge. That is a step in the right direction for him not to grow up to be like the guy you met in the can. |

| nilesq is dead on. good on you for not busting the guy up in front of your son. he may not remember you missing the opportunity to kick the crap out of some *beep*, but he'd definitely remember his dad mauling some retard in the bathroom. warranted or not, leaving that loser alone made you a better man and set a good example for your son. |

So let me get this straight.
Some jackass blows cancerous 2nd hand smoke into your son's face, and all you do is blow steam and whine about it on the internet?
What kind of father are you?
You should busted that guys mouth open at the very least. A pen into the neck might lead to murder charges, but giving the jackass a good pop in the mouth teaches him, others around him, and your son a very important lesson.
Getting smoke blown in your face and walking away might make you the better man. But getting smoke blown in your son's face calls for some severe beatings. You never, ever, ever, back down from protecting your family. That's the duty of every father.
