I'm not sure what more you need. Who stops watching an oscar nominated movie after 30 minutes..really the first 30 minutes are not that bad. (or bad at all imo..but definitly good enough to keep someone watching)

I liked 'There will be blood' also..Daniel Day Lewis was great. Although if I had have stopped watching it after 30 minutes I could have said...

I watched about thirty minutes of 'there will be blood' but it was so boring..does it get any better than this: a man looking for oil? Is there a plot to it or just dramatic music? I only have thirty minutes to spare so rather than find out myself I'll ask online..

Indeed the other day I watched Rear Window , well the first 30 minutes anyway..but it was just do boring..does that guy ever go anywhere? Is there even a plot? ^^
Nice.

seemed like a boring movie with no plot except a guy running around murdering people. but thanks for the sarcasm. i was just wondering if there was anything more to it than that and was hoping for a helpful answer.

Your avatar has a picture of a cat with this caption: I'M IN UR WII, SAVIN' UR GALAXYS.

Now with that as a background, I'll let you in on something. There are people in this world with taste and there are people who do not have taste. Guess which category you are in.

No, you got it wrong.

There are people in this world with a sense of humor and there are those with sticks up their asses. No need to guess which category you're in.

But thanks for proving my point. Can anyone tell me what it is about this snoozefest of a flick that brings out the pretentious asshole in people? Are they stoned when they watch it?

Nope. There is humor. Then there is pictures of cats with geeky little captions attached. Those two things are not compatible.

So says the guy with a poorly mimeographed and unreadable Gary Larson panel as his avatar. Glass houses and all that.

But, if you read this much into an avatar, I can see now how you think No Country has some sort of deep meaning.

It doesn't take much to read into your avatar. Here is how it works. You think pictures of cats with geeky little captions are funny. Therefore you have no taste. Pretty easy.

My hatred of cats have nothing to do with this view at all...of course.

No Country For Old Men gets credit for it's style. It's stylistic. Is there another film like it? No. Does it have a 'quality'. Yes. Does it have an 'atmosphere'? Yes.

Films like this are not made for entertainment. They're made to push a corner of movie-making a little further. The Coens didn't make this film for you. They made it for themselves. That's what true artists should do.

Preach it like it is.
