Everyone knows you need references to get a decent job back home.
Has anyone successfully used a Korean boss/manager/supervisor/head teacher as a reference for a job back home???

Yeah I can just imagine my prospective Western employer calling my hagwon direcctor for a character reference:
Pros W employer: Ring Ring!
Director : Yobseyo?
Pros W employer: Hello my name is Joesph Shuttlecock and I am calling to check the reference of Mr. ###### ########. He apparently worked for you last year.
Director: Yobseyo?
Pros W employer: Hello?
Director: Uh....oooo. wait........one........moment......
Teacher who speaks slightly better Enlgish: Hellooooooooo!!!!!
Pros W employer: Yes, as I just told the other person, my name is Joesph Shuttlecock and I am calling to check the reference of Mr. ###### ########. He apparently worked for you last year.
Teacher who speaks slightly better Enlgish: Uh whoooooooooo?!!!!!!!!
Pros W employer: His name was ###### #########.

| most people i know that've left just asked for a reference letter. their bosses told them to write it themselves and they would sign it. simple as that. |
