Yeah, I was just saying I personally don't consider their looks to be an advantage. Mostly just opinion anyway.

You need to fix your poll.
HP and Compaq should be combined and LG and Xnote should be combined.

Actually, HP and Compaq appear as two separate brands even though they are owned by the same company.... It's kind of like saying Ford and Jaguar are the same kind of cars because they are owned by the same company.

If I had the money I would buy an X-61 wide Thinkpad.

I have an R60e - fantastic machine just a little big, but for under 1000 dollars it was cheap.

I don't know if they will ship here but Lenovo have a refurbished/disccount section on their website and have had some good deals on there.

It's more like Mercury and Ford.

Compaq is HP through and through, as a company Compaq no longer exists.

HP still markets computers using the name compaq. They do this because some people show patronage to the name Compaq, and HP doesn't want to lose these customers. The laptops are also styled differently and have different features.

If you are sooo slow that you get confused when you see "Compaq" and "HP" listed as different items on a poll then I feel very sorry for you.

Here's a little hint... Add the poll results of HP and Compaq together.

My old iBook dual USB (purchased in '03 I think) still troops along very nicely...I also have two Macbooks, one that has no issues, and another that my friend gave me after they accidentally smashed the screen (more money than sense some people sheesh!).

I do love my Macs, in spite of the fact that they are pretty, they are tough, and (touch wood), have never given me any sort of trouble...they just work, and they dual boot! So...even though they aren't on the poll...I would say a Macbook...but I probably wouldn't buy a Mac in Korea, and I guess that's why they aren't on the poll...but if I were to buy a laptop in Korea...I would go the IBM route.

What a long winded, self involved load of nonsense...time for bed I think!

Nobody mentioned the Sony Vaio... is it too proprietary with the software?

My 6 year old dell pentium P4 is still plugging along just fine. Haven't had any hardware problems so I wouldn't hesitate to buy another dell. BUT, I'd have to compare current specs and prices before deciding what I'd buy now. I really don't know what I'd buy now.

if price is not a concern, then i would get a panasonic toughbook. those things are built like a tank.

otherwise i would either get a cheap HP or a middle of the line thinkpad. VAIOs are nice for about one year, then they fall apart.
