If a person thinks a photo of female genitalia is perverse, but does not think a photo of male genitalia is perverse, then that person is definitely perverse. |

Doesn't matter if it's sexualized or not. Pedos can and will sexualize anything. |

What if the OP got into some controversy with the airport nazis back home and they checked his phone? Would they consider those pics 'pretty normal'? I wouldn't be so sure in today's social climate.
Tough world we live in. (I only carry around nude 6" by 10" pics of myself). |

Taking pics of your new naked baby and boring the neighbors and coworkers to tears with them is a normal natural part of being a parent, isn't it?
It seems a little creepy though, when the point of the photo is to show off the baby's genitalia. That seems to be making the child into a sexualized object, and feels similar to the child beauty pageants you hear about sometimes. Both will have their defenders, and both could be described as part of a local culture. All I can honestly say is that I'm relieved that no (theoretical) child of mine will be raised in those cultures. |

Actually, it is a common practice in Korean traditional culture to show of your baby boy's special organ.
Traditionally Koreans would pull down their baby boy's pants and undies to proudly show off his male organ to viewers. Viewers could see and hold this proud part of the baby's body.
They were still doing this as recently as 1989 when my father was teaching English in Korea. That's how I learned about it.
Things have changed a lot in Korea since then. It's a totally different universe today.
When my old man came back to Korea in 2001 he was like: "My god! Korea has changed!"
And indeed things have.
I do not know when they stopped doing this practice. I supose it sort of quickly fadded away as Korea modernized.
So I think those photos found in that cell phone are connected to this traditional practice.
As for baby girls, I don't know if their special organ is showed off as well. I really doubt it as Korean culture traditionally, and still today, favors boys.
So as for those pictures in the cell phone, it's a cultural thing.

Just don't take pictures of them.
I agree that it says much more about those who support prosecution of parents and grandparents for fotos of their kids in the bath than it does about the parents. (There have been several convictions in such cases.)
To quote New York University Law Professor Amy Adler, "Child pornography law has turned every man, woman, and child in America into a vile, pustulating pedophile."

Can't remember the address but a couple of years back I came across this Japanese blokes blog, he'd been around Seoul taking pictures of stuff we think is weird but Koreans find normal (motorbikes on sidewalks, adjummas balancing a tray of food on their head ect). Anyway he'd taken a few pictures of that photo shop and a few others like it.
Man, if the Japanese think you're weird then you've got problems. |

My wife does this to me when we meet her friends. I was initially disconcerted by this practice, but I'm now starting to get used to it. |

So whether something constitutes child pornography does not depend on what is in the photograph, only what is in the mind of the viewer? |

Have you noticed that nude and semi-nude children in Korean cartoons usually wink at the viewer?
I wonder why that is. |

Mine too. Now, when I know we're going to meet new people, I wear stretchy track pants. Saves on the whole unbuckling, unzipping, pulling down, flopping out and then in reverse. |

I agree. How many of our parents have baby photo albums back home of pictures of us naked?
But these pictures are for the family, and maybe for embarrassing us in front of future girlfriends. Not for sharing, not for posting online, and certainly not for just leaving around in a used cell phone for someone else to stumble upon. |
