ok. i have lived in the ghetto and the 'burbs. in the burbs any kid with a lawn mower can make some money. get a bit older and you have a friends dad or an uncle that needs help. enough work to keep some money in your pocket and out of trouble. the uncles and dads talk to you about school and university and some of it rubs off.

in the ghetto alot of such links simply ain't there. no lawns to mow, much less someone willing to pay for such. the dads and uncles aren't there to hire out for small fry workers. idle hands with no money are easy prey. how is a guy to get his foot in the door when the doorway is bricked over?

in the burbs kids do crimes. illegal/underage possession and then small type vandalism. the same for the ghetto. but there are alot more cops in the ghetto than in the"penny rich farms" of suburbia.

kids in the hood have fewer chances at anything. having been there, i ask them "why don't people just leave?" and ultimately the answer is that they don't want to leave their family.

it ain't what you know but who you know. and if who you know is on the outside...
