As some of you will be aware, there are a few customs at a baby's first birthday party in South Korea including the receiving of gold rings.
One of the most famous customs is the thread, pencil and money test. Each of these items are laid out in front of the young child and then the one the baby grabs is believed to have special symbolic meaning for the rest of the child's life.
