Lately GEPIK schools aren't providing housing and telling newbies, right off the plane, that they have to find an apartmnet. They're doing it to a lot of people. By contract they provide housing or 300,000 per month, but 300,000 doesn't get anything!

Sounds like a way to get teachers to opt for shared housing. Anyway, I haven't heard of this happening either. Got any concrete proof?

I can see this happening to maybe one or two new teachers. However , I dont believe that GEPIK ; as a whole , is that stupid.
Even hogwon onwers are smarter then that.

I was in Seoul this weekend, at Rocky Mountain Tavern and Seoul Pub and you wouldn't believe how many teachers were talking about GEPIK's housing situation. This is happening to many teachers. BTW, I went to the Seoul FC versus Beckham match on Saturday, and I was wearing a jersey at Seoul Pub Saturday night. I am certain that many people saw me there. I'm not sure how many actually remember seeing me, or remember muuch else from that night, but i was there. This is a very hot subject with almost everyone I know.

If they don't provide housing do they provide the furniture?

If not that would be them pocketing a good few million.

just because of the housing situation, or are there other issues at their schools?

If they are able to go out pubbing it sounds though they have found somewhere to live though which makes me skeptical of this story.

You claim that newbies are being given money and told to find an apartment. Since they are newbies they (a) wouldn't know where to start. (b) They wouldn't speak Korean, thus the majority of potential landlords wouldn't know how to deal with them or know what they want.
