i am getting married in may and have a question about the visa that i cannot seem to find an answer to. With an F visa (F-2, F-5, F-whatever. im not sure which i get), are they still only good for 1 year? if so, i am assuming that i wouldnt have to do a visa run?
thanks.

F-2 is the VISA you will get for marrying a Korean.

They are valid for 1 year (first time) and maybe up to 2 years on renewal. I've only had 1-year VISAs each time I got it.

No, you don't need VISA runs with it, you renew it in-country and takes almost no time at all.

It's very easy to renew your F-visa.

Just take a number at immigration (or better yet, use their website to reserve a date). Once you get up to the immigration officer, just hold your card out to her, look her into the eye, and say, "I've been waiting to see you for a long, long time. Would you please F-me?"

I'm on an F-2 also.
Renewal is easy, but WARNING:
make sure all of your papers are RECENT (meaning
no more than a month old) especially your wife's
citizen number document with your CURRENT address
and the marriage verification paper.
(I went this time with 6-month old papers and he told me
to "F - off" and get recent papers . . . . So I had to go to
the stupid dong office just for a stupid couple papers.)

So far, mine has renewed as follows:
1st year--1 year validity
2nd year--1 year validity
3rd year--2 year validity (make sure you mark your
multiple re-entry permit as 2 years also, it should be 2 years also)

Congrats on the marriage.
