I expect this kinda crap in Vietnam and Thailand, but I'm very dissapointed to have become a victim of theft in Korea.
I was in Seoul Pub last night killing time before getting the bus back to Daegu. I had my rucksack with me. Anyway, the time came to get moving and I went to got my rucksack. It was gone! I'm f4uking gutted. I had a UK credit card, a $700 camera and a whole bunch of clothes in it.
What kind of sub-human f4uking low-life steals someone's bag from a bar.
I'm just blowing off steam here. Rant over.

That's definitely unusual for Korea. Were there many foreigners around? |

Is there really a country in the world where it is safe to leave a bag of valuables in a bar? |

I, on the other hand, gave a bunch of thieves a big scare. I woke up at 5am on Saturday to hear my scooter being hotwired, and quickly jumped into some clothes. They saw me coming and ran like Christ, leaving my scooter behind (although damaged). |

I've never been to Seoul Pub but if 50% of the people in there at the time were foreigners I'd give 5 to 1 odds it was one of them who took it. |

The place was pretty quiet actually, and my bag was very close to me. I'm in shock that someone had the balls to steal from under my nose. Of the few people there, most were foreigners.

What does hotwiring sound like?
I'm not trying to be an ass, I'm really curious. Does it sound different from someone just starting it? |

I just recognised the sound of my own scooter, really. Also, the fact that the engine was being gunned intermittently didn't hurt, as they were trying to drive it down the alley but kept stopping due to the steering column lock. |

not to add insult to injury - but is there any chance someone might have been so drunk they mistook your bag for theirs? did you go back later and ask if someone brought it back?
I picked up someone's bag off the baggage thingy at an airport once and couldn't believe I did that - I took it back and a few hours of waiting turns out the guy came back also took my bag by mistake -
it happens - but anyway - if it was stolen - is too bad - just remember if that's the worst that happened to you when traveling, well, a lot worse can happen than to have things stolen - ok? (I know, it's happened to me!)
good luck tho ! |

I hate Seoul Pub.
My friend had a camera lifted from Bricks on Christmas. I went there after he noticed it gone and asked the bartender if they had seen it. "Oh we don't know what you are talking about. Do you want a drink or not?"
My bass guitar was almost ganked from Hollywoods. I caught this girl trying to take it and walk away with it. I was ready to fight her. She was unwilling to give it to me, so I just reached out and yanked it out of her arms. |

Well, I called Seoul Pub. They did have a rucksack that was left there last night. It's not mine, but the description is very similar. I think some moron picked up the wrong bag. Since he hasn't taken it back, it's a reasonable assumption that I'll not be seeing it again.
Maybe he's left the country. Maybe he saw the $700 camera and decided to keep it.
Such is life.
