Hi,

I'm having probs with using microsoft word in windows vista basic. Recently my machine has started saving some word docs as docx. This becomes a problem when I make stuff at home and then use a flashdrive to transport to school as the damn docx wont open.

I tried cutting and pasting into a new doc tonight but same thing, it's saving automatically as a docx. What can you recommend?

Thanks,

Blue dick

Docx is the default file format for Word in Vista Office.

Bite me, Microsoft.

Go to File -> Save As. You should have a huge list of choices. .doc (Word 2003 and earlier) format should be available under "save as type" or whatever.

.docx is specifically for Word 2007... I'm pretty sure they only made the types incompatible to coerce people into "upgrading".

alternatively you can get an add on for word xp/2003 that allows it to read docx - just search the microsoft site.
