Any advice on how to proceed with my middle school classes, after i've done the whole 'i came from far away on a big silver bird talk/introduction...'.

What could be a follow on series of lessons? Maybe more about my home country? The coteacher and accompanying textbooks(All in korean) are proving very unhelpful in this matter.

As always any constructive suggestions appreciated.

Hi! I don't teach middle school, but I would suggest (as far as curriculum goes) buying a few textbooks from one of the larger bookstores and using those. I tend not to plan out my entire semester--I usually go week-to-week and plan lessons based on what I have recently learned about my students' interests.

Maybe some of the middle school teachers here on Dave's can give you advice as to what books they use? In my experience, it's better to aim "too young" than "too mature."

For my 'core' lessons I use -

New Side By Side Level 1 [3 Edition] Student Book
http://www.ikidari.co.kr./

It's not perfect, but it's the best I've found. Of course, I also do seasonally appropriate lessons and others I've collected from various sources or written myself.

Thanks mrsquirrel and cruisemonkey. Would these books be for sale at a Kybo books store in Seoul?

Give them a dictionary and tell them to go figure it out for themselves.

Alternatively, this has proved to be a reliable addition to my teaching arsenal. I've used it with my HS freshmen who got on okay with it so you may be able to use it in MS, albeit with maybe a little watering down if it proves to be a too challenging for them.
