I'm going to talk to my co-teacher this week about severance at a PS, and i was wondering what others here have been told. a few of my friends are getting it 2 weeks after they leave, and one was supposed to but managed to harass them into giving it to him before he left.
PS and hagwon options both on the poll |

Told them last week it's due on 11th. Make sure it's in so we don't look embarrassed at such a good year.
No worries. Girls in the office have set it up and it will be paid automatically. |

Got mine tacked on to the final months salary. I've never had any problems receiving my severance payments here in Korea. But, I think the tone of the OP's thread leads one to suppose there are problems. |

I'm officially a "freelancer" pension isn't in my contract. |

What about the "I got it my last day" option.
Sort of one-sided poll. |

I have always received it on the last day of my contract each year (for the last 7 years) at both public schools and hakwons.
I have never received it late and never had to fuss over it.
The OP's poll seems to be very one sided. |

At my Academy, all the teachers get their severance the day before their last day of work, so that they can get the money sent out of the country. Their final pay is given to them at the same time. So, in the past 6 years, the over 70 teachers that have worked for me have received it before their last day of work. We have over 20 teachers on staff.
Those that have extended for multiple years have the choice of when they want their severance, be it at the end, when they leave, or at the end of each year. |

Ok, but pension =/= severance. So you don't get either one? |

I meant severance. Stupid brain
I'd much rather have a higher salary than a lot of severance any day, much less hassle. |

No option in the poll that applies to me. Not counting the time I had to sue one employer, I've always gotten severance on the last day of work, along with my final paycheque. These were hagwons. Don't know about my uni yet, but I would assume it would be the same here, although in this case my severance and final pay would come about 10 days BEFORE my final day of work. |
