Not necessarily. I could argue someone who doesn't believe in some kind of higher being is that way, but I wouldn't. I have atheist friends, and I don't make that judgement as you are. However, if someone is not using common sense and just literally follows an ideology whether the Bible, Marxism, or the Quran, then they can be whackjobs. They are often quite inflexible. This Korean church doesn't seem to have much common sense. |
You can't argue that an athiest is a whackjob due to their lack of belief. You would have to prove God existed (and if you could do that, we wouldn't be having this conversation). The other way is just as hard though but because "religion" (not God) is man-made, that is really easy to shoot down (I mean the Bible is pathetically easy to shoot down). On the other hand, that in no way precludes athiests from being whackjobs, as some of them are really screwed up, just like with everything other thing.
BTW, these missionaries are arrogant aholes.
Edit, the word "s h o o t" has apparently turned into a swear word while I've been gone... shoot |

Anyway, I have to agree that not all Christians are by definition delusional and fanatical. Most just go to church every once in a while and don't let it run their lives. |

Religion (all religion) is only good for one thing, comedy. How anyone who has graduated grade six can believe such obvious nonsense is amazing. That people who believe in angels, talking snakes and sky gods are actually given responsibility for "educating" young minds is truly amazing.

In the meantime, Pres. Lee probably has the legal authority to cancel their passports. That would be cheaper than another 4 billion won payout or a Rambo-style rescue mission.
There ya go; plotline for Rambo movie #5! Rambo rescues the haplessly persistent missionaries from rogue warlords of Afghanistan. Somebody find me Jerry Brukheimer! |

I doubt they will even be allowed to go! the korean government
might say NO, all koreans wanting to visit afganistan need to get permission from the government before getting a visa..
so they will be denied!
also not to MENTION the korean people will turn on them! after they paid like 20million dollars to get them free! tax payers money! now want to go back and take photos again making peace signs with their fingers and saying KIMCHI! NOWAY! if they got caught wouldnt surprise me if the korean people said "LET THEM DIE" they were saved once before and now think they can beg the government again to save them.. NO WAY!
the koreans will turn on them in a heart beat |

If he caved on the Unification Ministry, I'm pretty sure he'll cave on this.
Now let's say you're right, and he lets a bunch go to Hell...er, Afghanistan.
Give it 3 months and after a few severed heads turn up on Youtube, he'll change his mind. Or the church will run of missionaries. Or he'll get raked over the polls. Either way, he can't possibly justify that position for much longer. |

Well, he was voted in with people already knowing he supported negotiating with the terrorists last time, and was trying to sway the previous government to pay for their release. |
