Is it possible to start a university sticky? The search function is making it difficult to find anything. Plus, it seems there are always a lot of questions about the uni job search.

It's more who you know than what you know when it comes to most uni jobs. For every uni job that has an ad on Dave's there are 10 that are hiring by word of mouth.

Joining the KOTESOL group is a good way to meet people (including hiring managers) at universities. I was offered a job at Gyunju (new spelling?) University before I left Korea in 1998 as a result. Here's the link - attend meetings and conventions (especially the national one): http://www.kotesol.org/

Thanks Ellie; the only problem is I am in New York right now, so I am doing my applications for universities from the states. But I plan to join it as soon as possible and then go to meetings when I arrive back in Seoul.

You're welcome, MollyBloom. By the way, my daughter's name is Molly! Don't know if that's your real name, but it holds a special place in my heart. I wish you the best of luck!

No, not my real name, but I do love it! Thanks for all your help! When I get over there I'll have to take you out for coffee or beer, or soju, or wine...

Odds of you getting a uni job from the US are slim. If you still need a job in Feb give me a PM. I am not a recruiter nor am I talking about a hagwon job.
