When I was in Vancouver a few weeks ago, UBC was locked down twice due to some sort of terror threats on the campus.

Lee Arrested for threats to University.

Looks like another Korean university student had some problems and went off the rails.

That would be as effective as doing police checks is for weeding paedophiles out of Korea.

His name's Hwi Lee or Lee Hwi - doesn't that sound more Chinese?

I nevertheless strongly support Korean students coming to Canada having to submit stool samples, espcially if they're going be working in a biosciences building. Interviews at the Canadian consulate in Seoul to check their age, marital status, and if they've had lunchie wouldn't hurt either.

He was a Korean immigrant. By all accounts, a very smart young man who seems to have snapped under pressure. Good thing they caught him before he didn't something terrible. Now, deport him.

The Discover Vancouver forum is heating up:

Ding Ding Ding! We have a winner!

Of course it will be just as "effective", but if we have to go through the hassle, why not them. Don't we have a reciprocal relationship, or anything?

It's overdue that Canada starts treating Koreans as the children they are.

DUDE-there is no debate.

Koreans tend to keep to themselves, but do well economically. They start businesses in areas that many others won't and have very high degrees of social mobility from generation to generation.

But, I do think it is time that Canada take greater care in her immigration policies. Reciprocity would be nice.
