My friend Julie O'Hanlon and her husband adopted a rescue dog named Hanni from the Daejeon dog shelter a few months ago. Unfortunately Hanni has wandered off through an open gate and is lost somewhere in the Itaewon area (we think). A photo and some details from Julie below, including her contact details if anyone should find Hanni.

I know this is a long s h o t but I just need to get this message out to as many people in my area as possible, as soon as possible. My lovely little rescue dog, Hanni, went missing today. Some idiot delivery man left the gate open and she wandered out. She cant see or hear brilliantly and ended up down by the Capital Hotel. That was sometime between 4pm and 5pm. Its been difficult to get the story straight but I gather a Korean woman picked her up (according to the guy on duty outside the Capital Hotel & the Japanese restaurant owners) and took her in a taxi to her home. She left a note with her number. We rang the number over and over until a man finally answered. He was very drunk and said hed thrown the dog out of the car! I truly hope this isnt the case. All I can gain is that they live somewhere near the Hyatt. I dont even know which Hyatt. The lady that owns the restaurant claims she knows the man, albeit not well, and that he is a dog lover and wouldnt do that.

My husband and I have spent hours searching both up by the Hyatt Hotel (Itaewon side of town) and also all along where we live and by the Capital and Crown Hotels. We also trailed round the vets and an interpreter phoned every single clinic in the Yongsan district for us. Theres no sign of her. I am gutted and cannot bear the thought of her lost and frightened and I desperately want her back.

Shes a poodle/bichon mix and is called Hanni. She has stained eyes and a very s h o r t tail. She is also in season. Please could you put the word out? If anybody hears anything then please would they call me at any time on one of the numbers below?

Thank you for your help,

Kind regards,
Julie

Some good news - I heard from Julie this morning and they have found Hanni.

The Korean man who found her had sobered up sufficiently this morning to explain that he and his wife had found Hanni down near the Crown Hotel and had taken pity on her, taking her home with them in a taxi with plans to take her to a vet in the morning to see if anyone had lost her.

Julie picked her up this morning, the man and his wife were in fact very nice people (with a dog of their own) who were very happy that they had been able to help.

Thanks to everyone who contacted me offering to assist.

Cheers
