priced?

Can someone please offer some advice or suggestions for some good quality clothes in Seoul?

I'm finding Seoul to be a horrible experience with regards to buying clothing.

A Perry Ellis tie that would cost no more than $30 US back home is 100,000W here in Seoul. A shirt is more than 150,000W. That is crazy.

I have bought Korean clothes in the past but they have always been disappointing. I want good quality and am willing to pay for it, but I was hoping to get reasonably priced clothes. Paying 700,000W for a suit that would be no more than $200 US is ridiculous.

I am willing to travel a bit outside of Seoul if need be. Please suggest any places that you believe would be good for men's dress suits, shirts, ties and slacks. Thanks!

Hint: Don't buy imported clothing. If you want imported brands, locate the black markets imitation. Korea is Asia's biggest supplier of imitation goods, so much so that reps from big names like Armani have traveled here to witness and discuss the problem.

Yet I don't know where to find these imitation goods because staying up with the big names in fashion is a waste of time and money.

Buy your shirts at places like the Namdaemun market. Full sleeve dress shirt: 5,000 won or less.

Does anybody else associate buying imitation goods with contributing to American economic downturn?

I will agree with op here.. I got cheap Guess jeans from Canada that have outlasted any crap I have bought in Korea. I learned that certain brands ARE just better then the crap in Korea.

Funny because couple weeks ago my coworker was telling me about her 120k levi's and I showed her the same Levi's on a wallmart website which were whoping 19 dollars. She hasn't worn them since.

There is a Japanese chain called Uniqlo that has come to Korea in the past year. Their clothes are nice (not too Korean flower boy style) and reasonably priced. I know of two stores, but there must be more. One is in Gangnam if you go out exit 7 and walk straight, it will be on your right. The other is in Apgujeong, but I don't know directions.

I'm about 6'1" and stocky. T shirts fit ok as do jumpers, but pants were a litte on the drainpipe size for my liking. They do nice plain t shirts for about 6000 a pop and sweaters go for around 30000.

I also bought a pair of casual work pants at Bang Bang almost 3 years ago and they are still going strong. Only thing I've ever bought there though.

Good luck

Aren't big name fashions from Italy or something? Screw those sweat-shop using, over-priced brands and their bulimic models.

Originally from Italy or France, but they all now belong to some *umbrella groups* that are mostly American enterprises.

I third Uniqlo for decent reasonably priced clothes. There is one branch in COEX and another in The Lotte Young Plaza in Myeong dong. Alos in Lotte Plaza is Muji, another shop which has nice but slightly more expensive clothes.

Depends.....they're from all over.

Nothing to hate about high end clothing! Over priced...somewhat, but plenty of clothing is worth the cost.
