I'm looking for a place to spend a few hours on the weekend. I've already been to Gyeongbokgoong and it's nearby town, and I'm hoping for some recommendations as to where to go. Preferably somewhere that has enough to see over the space of a couple of hours, or a location where many sights are close to each other. Reading about them in books is only good to a point, as I want first hand advice. It has to be in Seoul though |

Changdoekgung or the other one which is pretty close by...They are just around the corner (sort of) from Gyeongbukgung...
One of them you can take a tour and it lasts about an hour or a bit more... |

Is there an outdoor area where you can eat/picnic by any chance? |

Which one is in Hyehwa and near the science museum? That one has the best grounds. It is a big area, a Japanese-style fish and duck pond, fountains and an indoor botanical garden.
Also, if you want to go to what I think is the best temple in Seoul, go to Doseonsa. To get there, exit Suyu Station at exit 8 and just grab a taxi. It's less than 5,000 to get there and has views of the city. |
