My students are telling me that the state schools are starting to phase out saturday classes. This could well mean that Hagwons will feel obliged to open on saturdays to fill that gap in the kiddies education. Anyone fearing the return of the six-day teaching routine?

I work a half day Saturday already, but get paid for a full day.

Very profitable indeed.

If you don't want to work Saturdays, get written into your contract or just don't sign there. Working Saturdays is just wrong, imho

I won't sign any contract that makes me work Saturday.

It's hard enough to find English teachers for hagwons. Double the challenge if the school is open on Saturdays.

Hagwon owners know better than that.

There are already a lot of hagwans that expect teachers to work Saturdays. English 20/20 in Busan for one. There are quite a few teachers out there that are quite willing to sign a 6 day/week contract.
I am not one of them, but I have met a few.
My boss wanted me to start a Saturday class, I just flat refused. I need my weekend off.
Cheers

Let's all make a pact to NEVER work Saturdays as part of regular contract hours.

I worked Saturdays my first year with ECC and it sucked. I vowed never to do it again although I worked Saturdays in Taiwan- - you had to if you were going to make any money.
