Sorry, this thread is not going to be about what you think it's going to be about if you're looking for stories about love triangles.
Rather, I have a thought about something that bothers me on Dave's and let everyone take it for what it's worth. Dontcha just love it when you read the title of a thread, maybe even the first post or two on it, and it's about a topic you find interesting, only to see that the next several dozen posts on the thread have nothing to do with the original post/topic, the OP?
Thus I propose the O.P.P. principle - the Original Poster's Property principle. This principle would simply state that when a thread is created, it is, in effect, the property of the original poster and thus the topic of the original poster should remain the topic of the thread that follows! How crazy is that?!? No hijacking threads to talk about some minute detail of some totally different topic that the OP or some other posters metions - just stay on topic!!! This also implies only posting responses that are pertinent to the OP, instead of just saying "I don't know" or some other such useless bit of un-knowledge.
Just my idea, I'm not a mod or anything, follow it if you wish. Just thought this could help cut down on threads that veer wildly off course and then the OP's question or thought doesn't even get answered or addressed. |

While your suggestion is similar to what I thought when I first joined Dave's, the reality of Dave's is that many posters enjoy the tangents that come about in many threads. Some of the most interesting discussions come about from tangents. |

I just got done watching the new episode of Lost. Not as climatic as some of the others this season, but necessary for revealing more of the secrets and characters' intentions. |

Don't like lost much.
I do however like my new slow cooker. It could do with being a little faster though |

Hanson,
If you first joined Dave's in 2004, I've been around longer than you; not everyone with a new user ID is new to Dave's. How is it that such an experienced Dave's user as you didn't know that?
That aside, I hear ya. How about a compromise then? If an OP is looking for information, at least one responder to a thread must address the OP's original question with some kind of meaningful response. Like I said, just my thoughts.
bibitybop and mrsquirrel, your responses were TOTALLY predictable, but still make gave me a chuckle. |

Hehe, I joined Dave's after being here 4 years. How is it that such an experienced expat in Korea as you didn't think of that as a possibility?
Have you really been around longer than me?
Dude, trying to tell people what to do or how to post on Dave's is a lost cause. |

Notice the "If", man. I don't care who's been here longer, just don't think you should peg people as newbs w/o good reason, but I guess you can do whatever you want.
I know it's a lost cause, don't worry about me. Just trying to put out an idea/suggestion. |
