Reminds me of the "Death from Above" level on Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.

You actually get to control an AC-130 and take out people in the same fashion. Cool

Insurgents?

Every war is as much about the language as the raw detail. Those who'd use the term "insurgents" when talking about the local population are like those who'd talk about heathens while screwing the neighbor's wife and beating up their kids.

And we are complicit in this fabrication. Death doesn't come easily, it comes stupidly and full of indifference. Served up by those who speak in such contortions. Death tastes better with coke - said one lost commentator.

i agree with the 4 posts above.

and i also hope it isn't the same technology guiding the "smart bombs" that was guiding those chopper piolots.

I wonder if some of you would rather rely entirely on the opinions of a newspaper such as, "The Guardian" or "The New York Times" in terms of what the war is like?

Video is a powerful tool, which can be used in many ways.

As is the press.

Here is something a little less videogame-like. Do you suppose the insurgents would have offered US troops medical help?

Warning, very graphic. Perhaps this will show people why war is a very bad thing. Sometimes necessary, but very, very bad:

You can hear the ammo cooking off in that bus.

It looks like they are making every effort to save lives here.

They approach a burning vehicle that by all rights could have a bomb.

They drag the survivors to safety.

They render aid with true professional care.

Great video.

The insurgent-planned video that CNN isn't interested in showing you:

Thanks for the videos, they serve to remind us that war isn't a game and that people lose lives, sometimes our side and sometimes theirs.

I thought that the war from above was a bit sickening, the insurgents couldn't even hear the gunship firing until the rounds hit the target. Not condemning it, just not a particularly nice thing to watch people run like rabbits as they are targeted by a Gatling gun. Please don't say I'm defending them, they made their choices.

Like many people, I didn't support the war in Iraq but I SUPPORT THE TROOPS. The video showing the troops giving medical aid, I highly doubt that the insurgents or whatever they're called would act so humanely. It's possible that having the video camera on them might have influenced the actions of the American troops.

We have (as a race) made some large improvements in our behavior towards each other, but those videos remind me we all have a long way to go in our social and moral development.
