I am in the U.S. now with a lap top I bought in Japan. I used yahoo BP as my internet provider when I was there. The house where I am living in N.Y. has a wireless system(?), and one member of the house hold just plugs her lap top into the three point plug on the wall, and get's reception. What do I need to get my Japanese bought IBM computer to work.

assuming you have wireless in your laptop:

start
control panel
network and internet connections
set up a wireless network for a home or small office

IF YOUR WIRELESS IS NOT ENABLED
you will need to click on the "network connections" icon and then right click on the wireless connection for your notebook and "enable it".
