Wonder if any of the "Great Unwashed" are making trips to the prison to see him. |

All I am saying is that no one has heard Neil's side of it yet. If he is indeed guilty then I hope the wheels of justice turn accordingly. But all this legislation that is causing so many headaches is because of Neil and I am thinking what a severe loss of face to everyone if he were found innocent. All I have hear in the press is "the pedophile Neil" or "child abuser Neil". They've hung him without a trial as far as I am concerned. |
Well, the evidence is overwhelmingly against him. Also, trying to disappear and run away from authorities isn't a smart move, even if you are innocent. As soon as his picture was out there, he shaved his head and booked the first plane ticket out of Korea. Its not hard to link allegations + travel dates on his passport + confiscated digital evidence + unscrambled digital evidence + eye witnesses + his attempt to evade law enforcement.
So, I think it is safe to assume he is guilty. But hey, if you wanna take a chance and say he's still innocent then you have every right to. |

I agree that the circumstantial evidence is not in his favor. What I am arguing against is that months before we really knew any of the details we had people calling him a pedophile, child molester etc... What ever happened to being innocent until proven guilty? And I am not talking about Asians here but westerners. Neil needs his day in court is all I am saying.
I remember a few years back where there was this guy who was a known local playboy that was accused of raping a woman. Everyone was badmouting him for being a predator, a shauvenist, insert whatever bad thing you want. Then when they got to trail the defense lawyer finally got the woman to admit that she fabricated the whole story so that her parents wouldn't think she was a ho. It inolved a pregnancy.
So was the guy a pervert, a rapist? Or was he simply a guy who did what any number of posters on this thread have and would do in similar situations and then had it come back and nit him in the butt?
I agree, it doesn't look good for neil, but what would this world be if for example you were audited by the IRS and the morning paper had a story about you titled "Tax Evader (Insert name) Under IRS Investigation For Fraud"? |

There were reportedly hundreds of pictures of him diddling little boys.
It doesn't get much more conclusive than that. |

Yeah, combined with the fact that the guy ran away as soon as the face was unswirlled. |

I don't think Xingyiman's comments are legitimate hereall the reports I've seen make it clear that the allegations against Neil haven't been proven yet. People on an Internet forum are entitled to speculate about the evidence and have opinions about an accused person's guilt or innocence. In what sense has he been hung or convicted in the media? I don't see it. |

His brother claims still to be 'supporting' him, though not enough to visit or help get him a lawyer ahead of his first court appearance, apparently. From what I've read money can buy you a lot more comfort in Thai prisons - I wonder if he has access to much. |

And in the even t that Interpol made a mistake, why did he bolt to Thailand and not fly straight to Canada, turn himself in to the RCMP, and wait for a celebrity lawyer who'd gladly accept his case at a big circus trial? |

CPN is in all probability guilty.
But justice shouldn't be based on public opinion.
I also think it's perfectly fine for the innocent to run from Korean justice.
Hopefully after the trial there will be no questions left over his guilt or innocence. |

Agreed.
But to me there is a slight difference between internet posters and news agencies.
Here on this forum, people can pretty much post anything that can pass through the swear filter as long as it's not blatantly racist/attacking.
But I think that the news agencies should be held to a higher standard. 'Alleged pedophile' and 'suspected rapist' should be the watch-words of the day. |
