Does anyone know if the Canadian embassy confirm that all the documents you have are sufficient? I emailed them asking if I needed to include anything else in my application but they said they dont do it by email. They didn't say anything about in person. If I go there with my documents will they look over them? |

No, they won't and they won't make an appointment to do it either. They will only give non-committal information and/or the printed checklist of standard documents.
They will not comment on any specific application. They will simply tell you to submit the documents and wait for an answer.
That is about the best I can do without knowing what visa application you are making. Some decisions are make locally, some are made in Manila and some a made in Canada. The where depends on what visa....

Funny, I had the opposite experience to Tom.
I registered my girl for her Canadian Citizenship Certificate and they booked me ito an interview room and went through it all with me - making sure it was all in order before they sent it off.
...
However, that was months ago.. and I'm still waiting to hear the results. |

Consular service to register your daughter as a citizen is very different from the particularly awful service in the visa section.
They even answer the phone and e-mails in the consular section where they won't even talk to you in person the visa section.
If you send an e-mail to the visa section they promise a reply (but not necessarily an answer) within 28 days. They don't answer the phone. They suggest you send a fax or drop a request into the drop box.
Most visa decisions are NOT made here. Koreans don't need a TRV as a tourist. TRVs for other citizens are processed here as are Korean working tourist visa applications. PR applications are done in Manila and at the CIC processing center in Canada with just the final paperwork completed here.
As a side note and reference to your experience - From my personal experience, you will get your daughters birth registration card somewhere around the 6 month mark after the application. When you get it, take it in and update her passport to a 5 year one (just an amendment on page 3). It takes a few days and costs 10k.

^^^ Ah, my bad. I had included them both as services of the Embassy. I can see why they might be different.
Thanks for the advice on the 6 month mark as well man. |

Sorry for the lack of info in the first post, yes it is for a spousal sponsorship.
I tried to get the information on the website, but it seems to conflict a bit, so was hoping to get some concrete answers from them. From there tone in their email (received today ~2 weeks after sending) I think you are right about them not wanting to offer any service. I guess, the next time I go there will be to get a new passport next year. Is that going to be fun?? |
