|
|
I now teach kids who go by the English names of Dark, Green and Black. Now today I am introduced to my latest student, Smurf. When I first heard the desk teacher say it, I thought she said "Snuff" OMG! How do you tell a 12 year old that the name he thinks is cool makes him sound like a dick? Do any of you have similarly foolishly named kids?
Cheers

Remembering my hogwon days I had kids named Dyke, Chester, Cooch, Rere, Stank, Skeezer, PK (as in penalty kick), Tinkle, PeeWee, Tard, Twang. The list goes on and on. The sad thing is that some of these kids keep their English names forever. |

This mother at my last school wanted a name for her son that mean 'great' - scouring the name book we picked Julian, a nice normal name and all. Well, so we thought!!!!!!!!! She decided it was not good enough and called him Great instead . |

Had one "class" that insisted on wrestling names. I wouldn't of minded so much.. but they changed them up ever week; couldn't keep up! |

Last hogwon:
Ding
Rabbit
Allen (a girl, she wrote it "Allen" and pronounced it "Ellen", her English was good enough to know better)
Star
Current hogwon:
Top
Captain
Rola
Shelly (but she pronounced it "Sally", her English wasn't good enough for her to know better, but that didn't stop me from trying)
I've had to fight tooth and nail to prevent a "Hulk" and a "Gogo". |

Chewbaca
ps. I had a set of male/female fraternal twins and their cousin in a kindy class. They were Ali (the girl), Frazier (the boy), and big George (the cousin). It only lasted until they got home, though.
