You are entitled to your pension refund from the government (assuming you are from a country that gets a refund) and it has nothing to do with the hakwon unless they did NOT pay into your pension fund.
Airfare is a contractual matter and is probably excluded on an early termination.
There is no medical refund.
You have not worked a full year so under labor law are NOT entitled to severance. Article 34 sub 1 of the labor standards act.
After 6 months you are entitled to 1 months notice or one months pay in lieu.
It certainly sounds like a late termination to avoid paying medical, pension or benefits so you may have a legitimate claim against your employer at the labor board for an illegal dismissal. (article 30-32 of the labor act).
They can be reached from any land line by calling 1350 extension 7 for English service. Their website is at: http://english.molab.go.kr/english/ .

Take all the furnishings that were supplied by your school and sell them
use the money to buy your ticket home, don't wait for them to make the
move this is a bad situation that will only get worse.
See the Ian in Ilsan thread.
If you want legal recourse good luck.

On a side note: A coworker was fired 2 months ago, and the hagwon threatened to withhold his pay if he didn't meet all their "demands" before he left (ie finish marking tests, write report cards, plan classes for 2 weeks etc.). Are they able to withhold pay until those requests/"demands" are met?
If I'm paid on the 15th of every month, and I'm released on the 16th, they'll still owe me money from the first to the 15th of my final month. Can that be withheld? I know back home it can't, but is that the same here? |
I can't believe you stayed after you witnessed the treatment of your co-worker. |
