Strange but interesting post. I can't say it's ever occurred to me to wonder if the whities who walk past studiously ignoring me are Dave's posters It's funny though; when I lived in little old Yongin there were very few non-Koreans so on the odd occasion I'd spot another waegoogin a subtle head nod was the accepted acknowledgement (no need to go over the top). In Pundang, however, I get the invisible girl treatment from the local waegoogin populace. This is not a complaint - I'm just noting the difference. |

^ "ignore" sounds mean... i think it's more that we pretend not to notice each other sometimes. i'm glad about this, it gives me some semblance of my home country
i'm sure most of us don't mind a smile or head nod, but a full out conversation with someone on the street just because you're white? no thanks |

What was weird was after a while I started to think I looked similar to the people around me who were of course Korean - I didn't think I blended into the crowd of course but I thought 'hey! I have same colour hair, eyes and similarish tone of skin' and when I saw a foreigner I would jump back in amazement!
You can tell if another teacher who you met randomly was up or conversation by the way they set their face which was usually 'DON'T YOU DARE TALK TO ME! YOU SUBLIMINAL RACIST' In my opinion if I can't talk to someone and give 5 minutes of my time then there must be something wrong with me! But I did feel like running after them and shouting...'do you know who I am? I'm BEJARANO KOREA!' I'm sure if I had done that they would have invited me into their house and personally thanked me for making them laugh.
Tell you what though - while going to work in Changwon I would occasionally bump into this shaven headed guy who looked like Blly Zane
who would give me a big smile and a cheery nod and I would give him one in return and I remember telling my co-worker about him one day one afternoon as she was driving me home I saw this guy walking down the street with this gorgeous Korean woman - which is fair enough because he looked like Billy Zane! If you are reading this... hello! |

That was my first reaction, too!!!! HAHA!!
It can't be CL, though, because OP says his location is south of the river and CL is way up North/North East.
Unless he's gone down south for a conference. |

If I see anybody I recognize, I sneak up behind them and just inhale deeply. I love smelling Dave's posters anonymously in the street. |

Hey, I see a poster everytime I look in the mirror and I say "Why you handsome devil, aren't you the poster child for Dave's". I am just messing with you, OP. I don't really think about Dave's posters unless they are friends and people I've talked to for quite a while. |
