Just wondering if anyone has been to the Outback in Suwon across from Galleria Department store. Hoping that it might be worth a visit.

I have been to that Outback twice. It seems like the servings there are a lot smaller than the one in Suwon station. For example. the chicken salad I usually have to share with my wife. Gallaria outback it was enough just for me. Last sunday the potato i got with my steak was the size of a golf ball. At Suwon station it was a large potato. I would recommend Suwon station outback if you want to pay for quantity.

I enjoy the Outback restaurants here (and am addicted to their large "Chocolate Thunder From Down Under" sundaes). I did get food poisoning from the rice at the Itaewon one once. I had a pretty big stomach ache, followed by some painful diarrhea. I figured that they don't serve as much rice there because Koreans don't eat there as much as foreigners, and maybe they kept the rice too long.

So can anyone answer why the hell Koreans love Outback so much? In a class of 30 kids, invariably a third of them will say "Outback" as their favorite restaurant.

probably the same reason a lot of foreigners say galbi is their favorite korean food. they're both easily acceptable to korean and foreign palates...an outback steak only really differs from galbi in presentation rather than taste or anything. probably they think 'hey this tastes like korean food, can i get that kimchi side order?'

Haven't been to that particular Outback, but the best one I've been to is the one by Suwon station. Food is good quality, portions are big and the service is good. They tend to go a bit light on the steak though, so if you like medium, ask for medium-well, etc.

Stay clear of the Outbacks, if you want a good steak, go to Brasilia in Gangnam, there is also a good steakhouse in Anyang called Y&M's, but it's hard to explain the location, but its somewhere in between Beomgye and Anyang Station.
