This weekend in Seoul in the coex convention centre there is a pet show.
There will be fun dog shows all weekend and even a cat show starting at one on Sunday. I went today and got a lot of free pet food and I won a mat for my cats! If you have a dog or cat here in Korea then this weekend is a great oppotunity to meet other pet lovers in Korea. Not to mention all the freebies and discounted items.  |

Koreans? Dog lovers? Cat lovers? Don't make me laugh!
OK, so this is the point where I'm not supposed to make any sarcastic comments about Koreans and their 'love' of animals (until they get bored/p*ssed off with them) Ooops! Too late! If you saw as many abandoned dogs roaming the streets and for sale as food each day as I do, you'd probably laugh at such a notion too.
Edit: Sorry for being so totally negative, but there are just so many beautiful dogs around here that are either homeless or uncared for, and there's virtually nothing I can do about it.  They're used as cheap security alarms, caged or staked to the ground, not sure how some of them will make the Winter. Those that aren't I see in those horrible blo*dy death houses known as dog farms. I suppose somebody must have loved them once.... So no, I can't get too excited about a pet show here in Korea. |

Give me a break. Try going to a place like Bangkok, Phnom Penh or Manila and you'll see what a stray animal population REALLY looks like. Korea is an effin' petting zoo comapred to other countries in Asia and their treatment of animals. |

On the contrary, a pet show in Korea sounds like a step in the right direction. |

I share your exact same views here Ms. Clare. Most women that pass thru my life know I love my cat more than anything else-certainly more than I would ever them. |

This seems to be a serious problem in these Southeastern Asian countries and their jaded views toward animals. I was once on the subway early this year and I saw what appeared to be an "entertainment show(with those 'talents' acting as anchors) about a particular zoo in Korea. These foul-offs and the sick audience were laughing their noggins off witnessing absolute cruelty the zoo staff were conducting to the animals. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. I almost put my fist right through the screen. That was unacceptable. I'd like to put THEIR arses in a cage and practice MY fencing techniques with a 10-foot spear.
OH, and for all you rebutters, THAT METHOD OF CONTROL IS NOT NECESSARY! I DON'T CARE IF YOU ONCE WORKED IN A ZOO, KNEW SOMEONE WHO WORKED IN A ZOO, OR SPENT AN ENTIRE WEEK LEARNING TO BE A ZOOMASTER. NO ANIMAL DESERVES TO BE TREATED THAT WAY! |
