Australia really is a horrible place, all these poor Koreans going there for working holidays (How many people come to Korea for a working holiday?)
and getting ripped off!!. Shame Australia Shame!

So who is doing the ripping off?

Actually A Korean I know went to Australia, and complained about getting ripped off, upon further enquiry, we finally found out the truth. Her employer was:
Ok kiddies, guess
a) A Money Hungry Jew (As per Korean Children's books)
b) A Nasty Muslim
c) A Nationalistic Korean
d) A Nasty School Girl Murdering American.

Hint: The correct answer is NOT a,b or d

It couldn't happen to a nicer group of people.

Seriously, there was an expose about this a few weeks ago. Many young girls were going to Aussieland with working holiday visas, promised employment only to find their place of work was a brothel.

I had an interesting experience looking for an apartment a couple of weeks back. I went along with my gf and her Mom, who was there to help barter for me. We went to a brand-new apartment, the landlady was interested in me and asked where I'm from. She says 'Australia, wonderful' and goes on to say how her daughter and son-in-law have been living in Sydney for seven years and love it there, and that she's visited there and loves the place. All's going great and we head off saying we'll get back in contact about the apartment and putting down a deposit.

My gf's Mom calls her five minutes later to confirm that I want the apartment and would like to put a deposit down. In just five minutes, the lady's tone has completely changed and says that she doesn't want to rent the apartment to me anymore. The reason being because she spoke to her husband who said all Australians are bad and that he doesn't want an Australian living there.

I guess the Adjoshi must have either watched that program or was upset that he wasn't treat like a king went he went to Australia. Laughing

Hold on Ilsan Man, thanks for the post, but me finks, you have also been a tad brainwashed by the Korean media.
These people do something bad, they are not Koreans, but they are Australian Koreans, or American Koreans, or Sri Lankan Koreans.
BUT do something good and your 100% Korean.

Don't get sucked in!

Do they eat Kimchi? Yep
Drink Soju? Yep
Support Korea at soccer matches? Yep

Then they are Korean.

I can live here 20 years and still be a foreigner.

A Korean studies 12 months in another country, does something bad and he's no longer a Korean!

One of my coworkers went to the Philipines for her honeymoon recently.
90 minute massage --- 150$US for 2 people.
ATV rental 2 for 2 hours --- almost 200$US
Being pulled behind a boat on a sausage --- 50$US each.

and many more where that came from.

They stayed at a Korean place.

If you're ever in the U.S. and happen to be in Philadelphia, and you're into that kind of thing, look for a place in Old Town Philly called "Wishy Washy." It's exactly what it sounds like, and, it's 100% Korean American Adjumma owned.

I know Koreans here in North America that swear they will never (again) work for another Korean in North America. Suddenly old country rules apply.

i remember watching an "expose" (something no australian can afford to miss - thank u frontline) about this on australian tv (today tonight i think it was), where the reporter was outraged that koreans could come to australia and get jobs that nobody else could get - just because they're korean!! how unaustralian!! how unfair!!!!

strange, but i thought they were outraged about the wrong thing, perhaps. i've got plenty of korean friends that have worked that kinda job in sydney (buy a sushi roll in sydney and i betcha it's been made by an underpaid, overworked korean). not nice jobs, and they get paid sh.it-all. they get ripped off - not only by other koreans (altho this is often the case), but anybody. i knew one girl that worked 12 hours a day, six days a week, for seven bucks an hour.

this happens a lot in sydney, in a lot of different cultures. u see chinese people ripping off other fresh-off-the-boat chinese, viets doing it to viets, lebanese, polish, whatever. it's a pretty disgusting thing to do, imho. but, if it's possible, u'll always find people willing to do it, right?
