I think I am about to cry! Please tell me there is will come to an end soon!!! |
Haven't you bought Euros or gold yet? The scary part is that the won is going down compared to the dollar and the dollar is plummeting! |

That's my point! How can that be? The US dollar is taking the biggest fall in history, yet the South Korean Won follows suit? |

Wow...KEB's forecast says March 950, April 945, May 940... which is the opposite of what these guys forecast:

It's good for the tourists. My folks are visiting now and very much liking the exchange rate. Just about every currency out there is rising against the won including the US dollar.
Maybe it's a good time to invite the folks over for a visit. |

It's funny how perspective changes as people get used to new rates. In 1996-05, when I got here, the won was 780.86 to the dollar. |

blame the fed and the idiots who run the korean economy. the fed for weakening the dollar through all these rate cuts and bailing out bear stearns (too technical to explain here). the idiots here who think the us will buy more korean goods with a weaker won when consumer spending in the us is down and there is a credit crunch preventing any major spending by companies for steel etc.
the locals will hopefully stop this when inflation starts hitting the korean consumer market because of this ploy. these folks didnt learn one lesson from 97.
i just got my pension money last week and i think i'll park it here for a while until this gets better |

the fed provided the cash for bear stearns to be bought out. pretty complicated. |
