OK...........here are my ideas.

EAST:

Pitt.............dangerous team, and hungry to win. I think they will make a deep playoff run.

Jersey.........always a team to worry about.

Rangers.............2nd roudn team.

Carolina.............can be dangerous but not enough spark.

Montreal................starting to peak........they are due for a championship, and EVERYONE knows it..........deep run.

Cap's.............oooooo.......I'm not sure about them. They could go all the way or bust in the first round.

WEST:

Colorado.........making push, and should make the playoffs. There progress will be determined by which seed they land.

Dallas........my favorite.......but, until they can get out of the first round, that is where they will finish in the playoffs.

Detroit........they will be a 1st or 2nd round bust.

Anaheim.................back in the saddle and dangerous.

San Jose....................could be a break through season. They have been competetive and aggressive........deep playoff run.

Calgary........they can go either way.......a deep play off run, or an early exit.

Wild................same as Calgary.

Any other thoughts?

Working at a hagwon starting at 2pm let's me watch plenty of live games on NHL centreice online, with almost perfect picture quality, seems like I'm watching t.v. instead of just my computer. I have seen countless games and parts of games this season, and look forward to a full playoffs. Very Happy

I couldn't disagree more. Four or five games and out of the playoffs again. A talented group of young scorers which needs to score 4 goals a game to win because the blueline is weak and the goaltending inconsistent. This is the biggest pretender in years. It'd be a very big shocker if they get out of the first round.

Quote:
Jersey.........always a team to worry about.

Yes. I hate them but it's a respectful animosity.

Quote:
Rangers.............2nd round team.

This team has looked great at times this season and gawd awful at other times. A real enigma. If Jagr and Shanny step it up in the postseason, this team has the goaltending, defense and mixture of youth and veterans to upset a few teams: coaching and team chemistry have been underwhelming though. They should be happy to be a second round team.

Quote:
Carolina.............can be dangerous but not enough spark.

They probably won't even make the playoffs. Their divisional lead is shrinking almost daily.

Quote:
Montreal................starting to peak........they are due for a championship, and EVERYONE knows it..........deep run.

The CITY is overdue based on their expectations, but the team of actual players isn't. Young rookies Sergei Kostitsyn, Kyle Chipchura and Ryan O'Byrne have seen significant ice time, with Mikhail Grabovski a third of the season as well. Michael Komisarek is seeing heavy minutes in his third full season, doing well, but not playoff tested nor 16 W ready imo. Streit and Brisebois are NOT going to help the goaltending much, and that goaltending is... a ROOKIE himself!!!! Carey Price is not ready for playoff success unless he's gonna pull a Patrick Roy, and the team in front of him is not defensively exceptional. Backup Halak is no more ready. The Canadiens are THE OPPOSITE of due for a championship!! Koivu and Kovalev (in Montreal at least), and to a lesser extent Markov and Smolinski, are due, overdue for success. Great coaching could get this team into the second round and if all that youth plays with maturity perhaps a third round might, but doubtful, could be reached.

Quote:
Cap's.............oooooo.......I'm not sure about them. They could go all the way or bust in the first round.

They have the goaltending, the veteran leadership, the young guns, speed, hard work, physicality and coaching. They haven't the blueline, and would need hot goaltending from Kolzig and/or Huet, very possible. I expect this team to win the division and get to the second or third round. The team needs two to three years more experience, and a defenseman or two, to put them over the top.

Quote:
WEST:

The league's top-5 playoff ready teams are in this conference. All smart money is on the cup staying in the West.

Quote:
Colorado.........making push, and should make the playoffs. There progress will be determined by which seed they land.

The Avs look great even with Forsberg playing so-so. If Petr kicks into playoff gear, he Sakic and Foote could get another ring. I'd be very nervous if I was a fan of this team. It could go in either direction.

Quote:
Dallas........my favorite.......but, until they can get out of the first round, that is where they will finish in the playoffs.

Last playoffs they showed they had the defense and goaltending. If Modano-Lehtinen can click like years ago, if Richards does what he should, this team is gonna be difficult to overcome. If they were in the East they'd probably go to the stanley cup finals.

Quote:
Detroit........they will be a 1st or 2nd round bust.

When healthy, they have looked as good as any Wings team ever. I really want them to bust, please please please. But I fear them, greatly. They simply have all the tools: goaltending, defense, special teams, speed, skill, grit, clutch play, veteran leadership and youthful energy.

Quote:
Anaheim.................back in the saddle and dangerous.

If any team can shoot themselves in the foot, it's the Ducks. Dunno which Bertuzzi which Weight will show up. They are worthy defending champions. Every series with them will be worth watching.

Quote:
San Jose....................could be a break through season. They have been competetive and aggressive........deep playoff run.

THIS team of players is due! I have seen several of their games lately and they play like champions, except... for that blueline. I cannot emphasize enough how important the Brian Campbell deadline trade gain has been for this team. He and Rivet need to have career years, and they seem to be! The x factor is Marleau, who surprisingly played little role in their recent 11-game unbeaten streak. He'd had great playoffs in recent years, and if he and Roenick are clutch when it matters as depth options, this team is gonna rock! They should be in the third round at least.

Quote:
Calgary........they can go either way.......a deep play off run, or an early exit.

Wild................same as Calgary.

No better chance than Vancouver or Nashville I think. There simply are five teams much better this season.

PREDICTION: I think Ottawa or New Jersey (with Buffalo as darkhorse) will be fodder for the Western team: Sharks, Red Wings or Ducks, with Dallas and Colorado as worthy upset artists.

Since last April's NHL playoffs began.

Watch almost any NHL game you want, live and if you miss it, archived.

Great service. Just need a computer and your account password to watch games from anywhere: you public school teachers can watch a live NHL game at work with earplugs to crank up the volume as you watch awesome quality, like tv, coverage.

I have been in Korea for years without the service being available. But as soon as it became possible I simply emailed my VISA account number, paid the under two hundred a season (incl. postseason) cost, and voila: games galore.

(There was a couple of weeks early in the season where a bunch of blackouts happened. But I think that had to do with free viewing being offered then. I have been able to check out EVERY game (except two Chicago games, one against Columbus one against St. Louis, perhaps neither was even televised, lame teams) since November.)

Which broadcast feeds does Centreice use? Can you get HNIC with that?

it is just like t.v. in every respect, even commercials: the t.v. feed basically

Kimchi Cowboy wrote:

most of the time with canadian games, yes

CentreIce simply connec ts to whatever network is covering the game

you get all the coverage DURING the game, but once the game is over, the feeds end: no post-game coverage

I've looked into the centreice online a little. As I just moved to Korea I'm only interested in checking out the playoffs.

Centreice says it offers select playoff games - what does this mean?

What's my best option for catching the playoffs?

In Korea, you will get all the games. It says select games because if your home is Toronto, they don't let you watch Toronto games. But in Korea, you are not in the sphere of any team, so very rarely will a game be cancelled.

Well, unless the Pitt/Philly game goes to OT, it looks like Montreal will get Boston in the first round. Hope the current course doesn't change and they make it 15 straight.
