connect the canal to the tunnel.
make it an underwater canal(worlds first) korean trade use only( ie one way)
charge the chinese double to use it,in case they want to visit busan, florida of asia.
name it: world route hubway number one

busan to china via high tech underwater secret fighting turtle sparkle- bargeTM

jobs for everyone, economy revived and any potential pride/hurt issues avoided.

I like the idea though I think it's about time this country look into developing Jeolla province in some fashion.

I think this tunnel should connect to somewhere in Jeolla.

For some reason Jeolla is left out when economic development is in progress.

I think that is one of the reason you see a lot of protests in Gwangju.

Even the KTX doesn't stop in Gwangju it's ripe for another uprising.

I could see it happening if they are overlooked for the tunnel site.

FYI, KTX does stop in Gwangju

I'm a little concerned with the idea of a tunnel to Japan. While it would potentially link Tokyo and London, wouldn't the possibility of an earthquake make it extremely iffy?

The longest tunnel in the world is currently in Japan. While the Tokyo-London rail route sounds romantic, it's not something that anyone is realistically going to take.

It'd be much, much cheaper to merely deregulate air traffic.

What are you talking about? The KTX does stop in Gwangju. But, I think they have yet to finish the high-speed tracks down there. Then again, the high-speed section between Daegu and Busan isn't finished yet too.
