|
|
There is a post on here about a guy who was fired because he has a non contagious disease. Im guessing that he is going to be responsible for his flight and visa costs. Im wondering if anyone has heard any ways of getting around these problems. Is there a way to avoid paying back these costs?
I bring this up mostly because I think the power in the hagwan/teacher relationship is totally backwards. They need us a lot more than we need them and the only way these people will realize this is if we start acting like it. |

If he signed a typical hakwon contract, you can bet that there is a loophole clause that allows the employer to fire him under some pretext without some honest justification.
Unfortunately, until you have 6 months in you are not protected from fast firings by labor law, there is NO protection other than a battle in court over the contract.

Actually, the "guy" fired after two weeks because of a non-contagious lung condition is a "gal," me. |
