Korean news has reported that an American Fugitive wanted for the murder of a police officer in the states has been found in Korea.
He was arrested teaching at a Hakwon in Seoul. Has anyone seen this story reported in an English paper yet?

Is this a clear sign the new visa regs are ineffective at stopping determined criminals from getting work here?
Or, are we all potential cop killers now? |

Given the quality of some of the foreigners I knew in South Korea, this comes as no surprise to me.
I cannot open your link. Can you reprint the suspect's full name, age, and when where the crime occurred, state and city, as well as the victim's full name and age?

His name is given as .....Nam
Not a waegook I guess as Waegooks nearly always have their full name printed. Endo your wish may have come true.

The Gyeonggi-do Provincial Police Department announced on the 19th that it had arrested the 31-year old Nam for murder at the request of the FBI.
According to police, on August 16th, 1996, Nam and three accomplices broke into a home in Pennsylvania, killing a retired police officer and stealing a gun. |

Investigators discovered that he was working as a hagwon instructor teaching English in the countryside near Gwangju in Gyeonggi-do. |
Anybody in this area know of this guy? Doesn't sound very cool and all for offing a cop. I'm glad they caught his azz. And, what sort of name is "Nam"? |

1996? This American citizen lived twelve-years on the lamb -- ten of them teaching English in South Korea? Gotta love Korean Immigration's efficiency. |

I was pretty convinced it was a Dave's poster. At the last meeting I went to, someone confessed to being an unqualified felon within ten minutes of meeting me. It's okay though... he's only dangerously violent when he drinks... |
