This is a complement to the good cooking thread going on.
I just acquired myself a very basic toaster oven. What delicious ideas do people have for putting it to good use?
Thanks |

I only use mine to make toast or heat frozen but thawed french fries or tater tots. Can't see much other use for it as it's not that big. I get better use out of my pressure cooker and crock pot. |

buy a whole chicken, slice it in half. rub it thoroughly with salt and shake off the excess. bake until done - it will be very juicy and you can save half to warm up for the next day.
enjoy! |

those little foil trays they sell for camping are the perfect size to use as baking dishes. I used to bake banana bread, roast potatoes, reheat pizza, all sorts of stuff in mine |

Our toaster oven's smallish-medium in size, but not too expensive (about 60,000), and it came with a pizza stone! So we've been making teeny tiny pizzas and calzones. We also use our toaster oven for nachos, cheese sammiches, and baking small squash. |

Homemade Buffalo Wings:
Get a glass casserole dish (you can get a set of 3 for 12,000 at homever or emart)
buy a package of chicken wings (8,000 at Costco)
in a glass measuring cup, melt 1/4 cup butter, 2/3-3/4 cup of wing sauce. microwave together for 20 seconds, stir.
pour over the wings in the casserole dish.
bake in oven at 150 degrees Celsius. every 30 minutes flip over the wings and baste wings in the sauce.
cook for about 1 hour, 20 minutes. then for 10 minutes, broil to crisp up the wings.
serve with a side of blue cheese or ranch dressing. also nice with some french bread.
enjoy! |

When i was in Japan I only had a toaster oven with one heat (whatever 750Watt comes out to be) and it was pretty small. by changing up how much excess bakingware, foil, and or slightly leaving the door of the toaster oven open you can make a large variety of things people wouldn't think you could with a toaster over.
Sweet breads/simple cakes are the easiest to start experimenting with because they are one, easy to make and two, are pretty forgiving unless you burn the hell out of it. |

Potatoes come out soggy, best to just fry them... |

Stuffed Pork Tenderloin wrapped in bacon...
Actually depending of the size you can do almost anything. I had a fairly large one in Hong Kong and did a turkey in it...in pieces of course...took a whole day...but was worth it. |

-It's so much easier than frying, and easy to clean up. I just made two pork steaks(don't know what they are exactly) and they were good. |

Hmm... ours is about 11" (give or take an inch) square, and came with the toaster oven. The brand is Electrolux, and after a quick check, I still don't see the model number. But maybe it's the kind of thing you could order as a replacement part, if your toaster oven's about the same size as ours? We just bought our oven at E-Mart. |

hi-mart has a good selection of toaster ovens-some very nice but over 100,000. Little ones are like 40,000. |

I think mine is smaller, it's not square. But I'm going to look into it...
(The possibility of getting the pizza stone, not the oven!) |
