Hi,

How is the processing time for the FBI CBC?

The FBI web site says, "Approximately 3-4 weeks for processing, upon receipt to the FBI." Is this true?

I got mine back about 3 weeks after they got it.

My first FBI CBC was lost in the mail. My 2nd was processed in 3-1/2 weeks. There is no way to expedite if you are in a hurry. Here is the number for their customer support in W. Virginia. 304-625-5590

Getting customer support via email is hit or miss, so I recommend calling after 2-1/2 weeks to check the status.

Make sure your prints are readable before starting this process and no personal checks!!!!!

why bother with this? choose a state that does it online.

I am doing both the FBI and State CBC. Why? because I want a backup CBC incase one gets lost etc ...

I wrote on the outside of the envelope that I needed my FBI CBC by a certain date and it took 2.5 weeks to arrive. Supposedly if you note that you need it quickly they will bump you to the front of the line.

When I got my state CBC apostilled I had an extra one done to bring with me, it seems like all they are looking for is the word apostille. Peace.

In my case, it took them 5 business days after the FEDEX letter was delivered to even have a record of it in their system. I called and let them know the first was lost in the mail, and I marked the cover letter and envelope etc. Hey, we are talking civil service here!

For some reason, my employer wanted an FBI CBC vs. a state CBC. But I had a co-worker turn in a notarized online CBC.

This whole situation has been costly and confusing. With all the fees, visa run, and FEDEX charges, I have paid over $600 for this work visa and ARC.
