Tool's got nothing on the Wonder girls.

This is very true. I've been hoping for some sort of collaboration. When the WGs were in NYC, they met with Danny Carey, Tool's drummer, about getting some vocals on Tool's new album. Carey said their whiny voices speaking a foreign language would be good, but Tool isn't making another album yet so nothing is set.

I have a couple tribute albums to Tool and APC. One is a piano tribute to Tool and it's pretty tripped out and good, if you like piano. The string tribute to APC is ok.

I also got a used, $2 copy of some no-name rock bands covering Tool. It was the worst thing I've ever heard.

Never known a band to be simple yet complex musically, barbaric and base yet transcendental and abstract. It's also totally not straight-up Rock. The guitar style is essentially Seattle/grunge but the drums and the musical agenda is Prog/transcendental.
This means very little to me.

Tool take the listener on a journey across space to another planet that's both hostile to us yet enchants us.
This is awesome.

Sorry for the pompous analogies here.
No apologies necessary. I believe this is language you need to use when you talk about art.

I never liked Tool. I saw them back in 1993. Their music bored the sh#% out of me and I've never liked them since.

Great band, though they peaked with Aenima.

Well, sorry about that. I think it's perfectly clear, but otherwise thanks for your comments

You're doing yourself a huge disservice if you do not listen to the songs The Grudge, Reflection and Ticks and Leeches (all of which from the Lateralus album) at the earliest possible opportunity.

This view mystifies me. In my view, Aenima is high quality but unremarkable. The songs I mention above are absolutely essential to any fan of stylish and sophisticated Metal/Grunge.

Tool update!

Hi folks. Ive recently been listening to the albums Undertow and 10,000 Days and hardly for the first time I hold a minority view. I think Aenima is their worst album. Other than the title track, Stinkfist, Pushit and Jimmy I find it largely average. Stuff like Eulogy bores me frankly

I think 10,000 days will wind up my favorite Tool album because the stuff Im listening to right now is just scarily mind-blowing. And Undertow has killer, amazing songs, though Im not a massive fan of Sober.

I love this band. Actually, I have a love/hate relationship with them, because their music blows me away so much, it wakes me up at 3am and I have difficulty getting back to sleep.

I take Rock music overly seriously and it frustrates me when people disagree with me. 10,000 days, Lateralus and Undertow are vastly superior records to Aenima. Thats my position.

My opinion on Tool is that they suck. They have done to metal what the extremly sucky Def Lepard did to rock.
