Well, the title says it all... Do you know of a foreigner that owns an English Hagwon in Korea? |

David Mason, one of the co-authors of the LP guide on SK - he used to own one with his ex wife, I believe.
This does not help to answer your question in a current sense.
Cheers,
Joe |

Non koreans can not own a "education business/school." That's the law. try and open a hokwon and immigration won't issue a visa and the city won't issue a business license. You can be a silent partner however! But you better trust whom ever you go into business with! |

Perhaps that used to be true but it is no longer. Don's W.E. Academy is an example. The whole thing is in his name- So what is the name on your blue paper that you take to Japan for your visa? Why it's "Donald R. Pruessner"! I saw it with my own 2 eyes. I have spoke to Don and hes 100% legit. |

A good friend of mine co owns a hagwon with her Korean husband in Chung ju. Her Husband works for another company and has the paper work in his name, but she definitely runs the show- I remember the debates they had when she refused to put up neon signs saying they were trashy. |

Can you prove your statement? I've looked over foreign investment and ownership regulations in Korea and opening a "education business/school" is NOT one of the restricted areas. |

I know a Canadian kyopo who "owns" a hogwon. I think his wife's in'laws are the technical owners. |
