My friend and his wife came to Korea recently. Like many newcomers, they came on absolutely no money and have had to borrow to get through the first month (only the husband is working here). After their first paycheque, however, they're looking buy a reasonably priced laptop that they can take back to Canada with them after the contract.
So first question, is anyone selling a sub-W500,000 laptop? They said they didn't want a used laptop, but I think I can convince them.
Or... do you know any retailers that sell laptops that are sub-W500,000? They live near a "TechnoMart" and haven't been there yet... do you know of any box stores that sell laptops cheap or lease them to foreigners?
Thanks. |

350k will get them into a basic dual core desktop.
500k for a new laptop is NOT possible in Korea.
500 for a used (from a shop) will (usually) be crap. They can poke around the used shops at the son-in plaza (big GIGABYTE sign across the rail yard from Yongsan station) and may find something decent if they are lucky.
800k can get you into a NEW ow/mid level laptop. |

Yeah, that's what I thought. They really seem to want one for that price range, I think their best option is trying to buy one off a foreigner who is leaving Korea... but the thing about that is that people tend to keep laptops they get from here, as Sony/Samsung/LG > Dell. |
