Perspective readers and fellow ex-pats,

I propose that our exit from the empire, regardless of innocent intention, hasith us in a position similar to that of a fortune teller - for it appears as if we foresaw the collapse of our most beloved American Empire. It surely will remain in the historical record, that our most grand empire survived a mere 50+ years which is a morsel of time compared to the British, Spanish, French, Roman, Greek or Egyptian monoliths. Maybe we shouldn't have contracted out our high tech military weaponry needs to our Japanese colony - whilst we fought in the Korean war. For it ignited their high tech gene.

For now Japan's 70 multinationals per 90 million people far surpasses our 140 multinationals per 320 million citizenry. Or, maybe we shouldn't have continued the practice of enslaving, by forcing debt on poorer countries (in our empire's sphere of influence) - for it drove them to make merry with the Chinese empire.

In any event we must watch, from afar, our titanic sink and feel a sense of confusion - as we exited it without any foreseeable insight into this most disruptive end of an era.

for love of god and empire,

archibald

Every ending is another beginning. I imagine that in a decade or so the entire North American continent will become one large reality show, complete with wall to wall CCTV cams, just to pay off our debt.

The Empire if there is one began is 1990.

So really only 18 years have since past.

There may be a "Western Empire" who's Epicenter may change in the
near term, I think this is more likely the Scenario.

NATO still stands and expands the EU is strong and getting stronger.

A large market does not necessarily become an economic force and cannot succeed without market interchange exports/imports, deficit and surplus. as well as an internal trade engine.

Not to be mean but you guys really need a history lesson. The U.S. empire has been in action for a lot more than fifty years. WWII solidified a global presence. I think the 80's, up until the 1988 recession, will be looked upon as the height of the empire - look at the change in global opinion of the U.S. since then (interesting correlation with Michael Jacksons career). Yep, gonna start banking in Euros.

Nah, I think it was actually O.J. that did us in. By the way the projections of the Euro have indicated that it's grossly overvalued. Buy gold.

man, we haven't even BEGUN to be an empire yet. Nobody gets to call their nation an empire until they appoint governors over Macedonia and pack off unpopular politicians to said Macedonian governorship. And, all the while, Macedonia calls itself an independent nation.

Empire-A rule of various nations and peoples united(often by military domination) by one monarch.
-If this sounds like the US please lay off the crack.

The USA is not an empire. I wish it was. Then the US could rape, pillage, humiliate and subjugate Canada.

If America falls, then it'll bring down other countries with it-especially Japan (which is already hurting from the fall of the U.S. dollar).
