Hello!

I'd like to send out some gifts to a relative living in Seoul.

I'm looking for a well known general online shopping site located in Korea (like amazon.com in the US), which takes overseas orders. The packages will be shipped to Seoul, but the billing info will belong to me....

Gifts in question are probably small, common electronics popular with an average college student, like an iPod nano, etc... I realize I can order from amazon and have it shipped out internationally, but I would prefer that she receives the domestic version of the products for compatibility issues and "A/S" Rolling Eyes or whatever it is that Koreans call warranty. Also there's that issue with shipping items >$150....

I can read Korean perfectly so I have no problems navigating the Korean shopping sites... but the order submission and sign up pages always ask for Korean specific info, which I don't have.

I remember when I lived in Japan, I used to order from the japanese amazon site all the time with my US mastercard/billing info. Is there a site like that in Korea?

Thank you for reading...

P.S. if there are no such sites, what is the best way to accomplish what I want? Give her my credit card info? Transfer cash (this has a lot of bank fees I assume..)?

I could be wrong, but it doesn't look like you're buying selling or trading anything here...

Oh, give OP a break. People often exchange information in this here forum about where/how to buy stuff new.

@OP: That's a tough one. I know most of the shopping websites here will let you pay via a bank transfer, but I'm not sure about an international one. Not sure about the fees for sending money here either, but I know it's about $10/20 to wire money to the US/Canada.

Have you tried Auction Korea. It is owned by ebay and you can buy both new and auctioned (used) mechandise. The URL is http://www.auction.co.kr/ but I don't know korean well enough to know whether this will do you any good. Just thought maybe...

Edit: Maybe you could register with her address and ARC number and then use your billing and CC information when making a purchase. Just a thought.

Maybe, maybe not. But that is not the point. The OP is not in Korea, so whether they are cheaper or not doesn't help him.

Auction is not as user friendly as Gmarket is.

Nuff said.

thank you~!
gmarket worked perfectly.
they also took paypal, which was a lot more convenient than sending in a fax of my credit card (why are korean sites so crazy paranoid about these things?)
