So I'm pretty sure my ex gave me the clap before I arrived here. I'm symptomatic (discharge, painful urination etc.) and have an appointment with the doctor tomorrow. I am worried about my ability to make the doctor understand what it is I have so I'm wondering if anyone who is well versed enough in Hangul can give me the spelling for chlamydia nad gonnorhea. I would really appreciate this as I want to get this dealt with as quickly and discreetly as possible (if discretion is even possible... the doctor's office is in the building where I teach).

Thanks

Just do your homework and use correct medical terms whenever you go to the doctor in Korea. This may be a big surprise to you, but medical terms are in Latin and Greek in Korea, too.

^ WHY, why go to the doctor's office in your work building? find another place or be prepared to have at least half the school know your business.

Because I'm lazy and don't really want to go look for someplace else. I've only been here a couple of weeks, and to be honest don't really care if the office knows or not.

most doctors can speak enough English to Know these common problems.

the international clinic in Itaewon is up to speed. English ability, and if you go first thing in the morning before going to the bathroom, they can use a urine test. No need for the swab which isnt fun.

So a friend told me.

You do not want to go to a doctor for STD treatment in the same building where you work.

I had the same problem recently. Go to The International clinic in Itaewon. There is a western doctor available who will prescribe.

Discretion and the doctor's in your building=oxymoron, mate. Next thing you know, your school will know what the hell you have.

Did your friend mention the usual name for that procedure, Ream & Scream?

Yeah dude, what he said. Stay away from the swab. Just ask for loads of anti-biotics.

I had similar symptoms once. It wasn't really painful urination. More like ....unsatisfying, itchy pissing, with the occasional drip drip.

Z-pack cleared it up in a week.
