I have just recieved my contract, and I am ready to sign. However, I am bringing my son with me. Does anyone else have their children with them. How can I file him as a dependent? Do I do that when I apply for my Visa, or is there a sep. proceedure after I get mine? |

Assuming your son has the same passport nationality that you do, you have 2 choices:
1) bring him with you when you come. AFTER you get your ARC, change his status to F3 (dependent family). In the absence of the other parent You will need documentation or a court order giving permission to travel outside of the country with the child.
2) apply for an F3 visa for him when you apply for your E2 at the consulate. You will need to show proof of relationship (prove you are the custodial parent) and if you are NOT traveling with his other parent, proof that you are allowed to take him out of the country.

TTOMPATZ,
You gave information based on people having the same passport.
Can you tell me what would happen if I am Canadian and my wife is NOT from Canada?
What is the easist way that I can get her a dependant visa?
Thanks in advance. |

It would depend on where she was from but the process is essentially the same:
Show proof of relationship (marriage certificate) and apply for the F3.
IF she is from a visa waiver country she can apply for her F3 before she comes here (when you go to the embassy to get your E2)
OR
she can come as a tourist and change her status after you get your ARC.
If she is NOT from a visa waiver country you/she will need to apply for the F3 before she comes here
or
you can apply for a "visa confirmation number" after you get your ARC. She takes that to the embassy along with her passport and fee to get the F3 visa.
Again, in ALL cases you will need to show proof of the relationship (government certified marriage certificate or copy of same).
