So yesterday somebody in my list sent me a .zip file saying it was a picture, me being a putz (and thinking it was from a friend) I downloaded and opened it. Now my computer is infected and every time I start Messenger this thing tries to send itself to all my contacts who are online at the time.

Needless to say this is causing me some consternation and cramping my sex life.

I have Norton but it isn't doing anything, I need a solution and fast.

Thanks for all your help!

OH

Did you boot up in safe mode and then run Norton?

Is Norton upto date?

Have you tried AVG?

I didn't boot up in safe mode, I will try that.

Yes Norton is totally up to date.

And if that doesn't work I will try this AVG thing.

Thanks.

Was the file a .pif/.pic file? It seems to be the most common way to propogate the virus. You said it was a .zip file...what was insdie? Is there no other odd behavior from your computer?

Some people have had luck here:

Or:

Its a .dll virus file...It copies itself into MSn contacts.
Remove MSN, delete the MSN folder.
Do a scan in safe mode.
Reinstall MSN.

press F8 as the computer boots.

The virus you had was rife in Thailand a few months back. I had to block all my old students until they fixed it.

also make sure that you turn system restore off as the buggers can hide in there. If avg doesn't work give avast a go. (I have found it more powerful but too system hungry)

Get rid of NORTON its sh-it

FACT

get AVG instead it updates more frequently and more reasonably and protects you much more... and get it to auto check files.
