Loaded up the old internet this morning and was confronted by this image. It appears to be Koreans eating fruit off the body of some western girl (although it could be a Korean girl on closer inspection) . I can't understand Korean well enough , so I don't know the context. Probably it's pretty innocent. Maybe someone could explain further.

It looks potentially offensive with a mixture of sexism and implied racism. I don't know if encouraging people to eat off the bodies of women (japanese style) is ever all that dignified. I also don't think that would ever be considered appropriote if it was a "pure" korean girl. Much like the underwear adverts. That can all be debated and like I said I don't understand the context.
If you can explain then ....Cheers.
(PS : I don't think it's a huge deal or anything. Just a slow day at the office.) |

Racism? I don't get it. There's no bowling alley, cunning_stunt.
The article says the show is expected to be controversial and features invited guests eating food off of nude models' bodies with chopsticks. They are basically copying the Japanese culinary practice for the sake of ratings. 'Sake'. Get it?
The article criticized the network for airing consistently sensational topics such as this and said that this program crossed the line.
As for being sexist... The Japanese have never really had much gender equality. |

So that clears it up for me. That's not offensive at to me at all if it's done for the sake of controversy or satire. Unless you want to read something into the fact that the nude model happens to be a foriegn girl and that trend in Korea. What part of what I wrote gave you the impression I'd formulated any strong opinions or made any accusations ? I merely asked for someone to put it into context for me. |
