Are completely unnecessary! I wish I hadn't wasted the space in my suitcase for dress shoes and the like since I wear slippers at school all day. Just a heads up to any potential teachers. I wear sneakers on the train and then they spend the day in my little shoe closet until I go home. |

Money spent on good shoes is never wasted. While you may not be able to wear your shoes in school, you can wear them outside of school when you go out on the weekends etc. It is not a crime to dress well when you go out with friends.
Remember: Just because you're an english teacher doesn't mean you have to dress like one. |

I had to wear slippers when I taught kindy, and EVERY ajosshi who came to the school used MY slippers almost every day. The few men that came in would just use them, and I'd usually spend the first 5 minutes of my day hunting for where they had left them (there were 3 entrances to the school).
At my uni, we wear regular shoes, so dress shoes are important. |

I end up wearing sneakers because I have to walk to school and my dress shoes kill my feet. |

Right, even my comfortable dress shoes kill my feet. With the amount of walking I've been doing the sneaks are mandatory. |

Yes, I hear ya! I felt the same exact way when I started - brought all my cute boots and dress shoes for both the winter and summer. First day - had to take them off! I didn't even think about the whole shoe removal thing when I packed and I certainly didn't think I would have to do everyday before I entered my school. Oh well, they are all saved for the weekend. |

I don't have to walk far to work, but I do a lot of standing in one place. I have learned that keeping a small spongy pad on the floor keeps my feet from hurting so much at the end of my 9-hour teaching days on Wednesdays. My Florschiem (sp?) dress shoes are hard as boards. |

I didn't even think about that until after I posted it. Has anyone ever tried English pick-up lines on Koreans? It seems like they can barely understand conversational English so the whole PU line effort would be wasted. |
