i was the best trumpet player out of 5, had real natural talent. had no interest in the material, and dropped out of band in grade 10. could have gone somewhere with it, but it was just so dull

Three years of trumpet playing before dropping out at age 14 when I realised that it was uncool for girls to play wind instruments - sad but true. On a related note I never did learn how to read music, I just asked the instructor to play each piece through "to give me an idea of how it sounds". I learned entirely from ear and no one ever caught on.

signed up for band in 4th grade, was told i couldn't play the flute like i wanted to, something was wrong with my mouth apparently. so i decided on the clarinet. worked my way up with the clarinet and for all of high school was 1st clarinet. also played baritone saxaphone for jazz band. i was definitely a band geek- never had band camps, but i got into the regional honors band and gave up a saturday to do all day rehearsal and concert that night. Geez, what a dork i was! but it was alot of fun. and in college joined the pep band for a year. that was my favorite part of band- pep band concerts. i miss it sometimes, but i want to learn to play the cello. some geek things i'll never give up.

Just asked my friend this question as I personally didn't play any instrument. His reply, "I had sex in high school." Ha Ha... But oh, so true.
