Come on, you're F*CKING JOKING, right?
I had an interview with a guyyesterday. After school positions in ILSAN paying 2.8-3.1 per month, BUT, the contracts are for 9 months. Also, there is no pension. I asked him why, and he said...
"Sorry, but we can not give you pension unless you work for 80 hours per week."
"I'm sorry too, but, you are wrong. Obviously you haven't researched the LAW. I work less than thirty hours a week and I am enrolled in the pension."
Nontheless, I told him I wasn't interested but he seems to continuously think that I am. Then there is the offer of 3.1 per month, but, no. No way. If they are cutting corners on certain aspects of the law then they will cut more corners and not inform you about it. No way.
So if you see ads for schools in ILSAN, and the company recruiter is in Gangnam or Apkujeong, I would be wary. Ask him about the pension, it's really quite funny actually. |

He's lying. Pension is covered for everyone. If you work part time though, your deductions will be the same % as someone working full time.
Pass on the job.

Was St. Andrews involved with the After School Program? Perhaps you should look elsewhere. Try Wall Street Institute (www.wsikorea.com) as they obey the law and reward their teachers. Very good company and on the way to pass the other adult hagwons and also no split shifts. |

It's 80 hours per month, not per week. |

Have you forgotten your other thread where you claimed to have been almost fired for asking why you didn't receive pension?

Now you're saying you DO have it? |

He said 80 hours per WEEK. I asked him again and again if he meant MONTH and he said WEEK.
I was fired for asking about my pension, yes. My boss was paying into it, with my contribution, but telling the NPS that MY contribution was a dual contribution of 4.5% from both of us, with my monthly salary being significantly LESS than what I was making, which was also stated in our contract, which he didn't follow.
WHY can't people follow the rules here? They think we are stupid. |

Evidently there are lot of stupid people here. You worked for a thief with full knowledge, and renewed.
Ask yourself again, why do you think people here don't follow the rules? |

I'm sure he misspoke. It is 80 hours per MONTH for pension to be mandatory. Less than 80 per month, it becomes a choice. |

It is only mandatory if you work 80 hours per month. If you work less than that, you can still OPT into it, but there is no obligation on your part or the employer's part to do so. |
